Hi, my name is Caitlyn and I’m fundraising for Cedar a 4 year old Dachshund that was left abandoned and paralyzed just outside a CT State Forest. I am the Animal Control Officer who was called out to the scenes for a dog hit by a car. When I arrived on scene, I realized that this dog hadn’t been hit but he needed our help. As I approached him, he whimpered a bit and dragged himself over to me using his front legs as his hind legs do not function at all. He was very sweet but scared after being left out in the middle of nowhere for who knows how long. Off to the vet we went!
It was determined that Cedar has IVDD or
Intervertebral disk disease. Meaning he has some sort of damage done to the discs in his spine causing his paralysis. He was started on pain meds and placed into a medical foster while we decided what was the best course of action. In the long run we knew that would probably mean MRI’s and Surgery. Which is where we are now. Cedar has spent the last 3 nights in medical boarding at Pieper Memorial Vet in Middletown. He had his MRI this morning and it looks as though surgery will be his best course of action. With that said said we are looking at medical cost anywhere from $3,500-$7,500 dollars. If you can help at all with any amount, we would greatly appreciate it. Anything to help get our boy walking again. He’s too young and too sweet!
Thank you,
Caitlyn
