Yesterday, everyone was playing outside and in a freak move my husband, Nate, tripped over one of our 3 dogs and landed on our Ceci. She’s half boxer/half everything else and only about 7 months old. I took her to the vet (Metro Paws Animal Hospital - White Rock - Dallas) immediately and after X-rays, her femur is broken in half. Her hip is fine, but she’s in a lot of pain. The recommendations from the vet were surgery or amputation. Some people suggested euthanasia. But I cannot bear the thought of putting my sweet girl down or amputating her leg when she has so much life left. Before this, she was our “little pirouette fur ball,” our “spins out of joy and dances for food” girl, and our “lanky little baby.”
This year has been tough on so many. We were hit pretty hard and have had difficulty staying afloat with our rent. Credit options are not a route we can take with our recent history. The orthopedic surgeon bill is not something we can afford. I’ve put many of our household items on sale, filled out the application for Lyft, and will attempt to sell our car: VW Tiguan. I am trying all I can to get her surgery costs covered, but we have no money. I have to get her some help. I don’t want our spritely pup to be maimed forever. Please help.
The estimated surgery cost is $2353.57 on the low end, and $2659.99 on the high end. I don’t know what else to do.
