Hello all my FaceBook friends. I am reaching out to all of you for help(and you know I hate to ask for anything except dog watchers). Many of you know that I was very ill and it was determined that I had liver AND Kidney disease. They said I could possibly get a transplant ...or die. But I had to get my platelets, hemoglobin etc to a certain standard. I have now lived to reach that point and will have the transplant at Duke. Of course, I dont know when since I am needing a cadaver liver. I can't do the partial. I have been praying for this day but have no idea how to pay. I have talked to numerous insurance agencies that handle Medicare, but their promises are more like a carrot on a stick. Meanwhile I am so close to being broke from all the co pay specialist fees, tests , and meds. I can't work to make any more income and it is what it is. Now it is time to reach out to my friends. I have always been there for them and I hope they will not be offended. I will know more within 2 weeks the costs involved. I do know that the meds needed to have my body accept the new liver in them selves are horrendous.
Please, help me stay alive.
Liver transplant procedures are estimated to have an average cost of $577,100, with the costs distributed across 30 day pre-transplant procedures, procurement, hospital transplant admission, physician, procedural costs, 180 day post-transplant admission and immuno-suppressants charges. The question of how much insurance and medicare will pay is still being researched.https://www.dukehealth.org/treatments/transplant-program/liver-transplantLiver transplant procedures are estimated to have an average cost of $577,100, with the costs distributed across 30 day pre-transplant procedures, procurement, hospital transplant admission, physician, procedural costs, 180 day post-transplant admission and immuno-suppressants charges.
