Due to the immense and recent loss in our family we are seeking support from our community to help with funeral costs and the current needs of children in our family.

Amure’s mother Cecilia Endreo Quirino passed away suddenly on 8/27. We are still in shock and totally heartbroken. Amure also lost his brother Osman and sister Joyce this year. Both were primary breadwinners for their children.

Cecilia was born and raised on the border region of South Sudan and Uganda. She was a wife, a mother to eight children, a devout Catholic, fiercely dedicated to her family and truly beloved by all who knew her.

Though Cecilia never had the opportunity to learn to read she was brilliant in her own right. Despite limited resources, war and much adversity Cecilia raised her children with an exceptional love and care. The way she really struggled for her children, grandchildren and neighbors to have opportunities in life she was not granted was extraordinary and her courage immense. Cecilia walked on foot over the hills more than once with young Amure and his brother fleeing political violence and over her life lost not one, but three of her own children.

Cecilia was a deeply spiritual person. Firmly rooted in her Catholic faith she walked to church every day to attend mass and was always prayerful and optimistic even during times of tragedy. The compassionate people Amure and his siblings are today, is a testament to the person and mother Cecilia was. Words truly cannot express the profound impact she had on all of us.

We are deeply honored to have known her and are forever grateful for Cecilia’s contribution to this world, to Amure’s life and for being a loving, gracious grandmother to our children. Sadly, only one of whom ever had the opportunity of meet her in person. As Amure said "She has done her part."
