Help Cecil Recover from Essential Surgeries

Hello all! My name is Cecil (he/they) :)

After years of waitlists and jumping through hoops put forth by my insurance company, I have a date for both top surgery and a hysterectomy! To cut down on surgery costs and recovery times, I am having both operations done at the same time. I’m so immensely grateful for this opportunity, especially at a time when my right to make my own medical decisions and create a more hospitable body for myself are under extreme threat. After multiple pre-op appointments, 2 appointments to get my required letters for surgery, 1 sleep study, and several calls to my insurance company, I have a surgery date: February 17th!!

While I am so privileged to work in an accepting environment, my job is very labor-intensive, meaning that I will need to take a minimum of 3 weeks off to recover from surgery. I work at the largest municipal animal shelter in the state of Indiana. I love what I do, and taking so much time off will be difficult, both emotionally and financially. I’ve been putting in as much OT as I can to help cover the costs of surgery and build up Comp Time to cover some of my leave of absence.

I really hate to ask for help when there are so many people experiencing tragedies and in need of financial support, but the reality is that I will not be able to afford surgery or recovery time without help. If anyone has even $1 to spare, or 1 minute to share this fundraiser, I would be eternally grateful ❤️
