Cecil's Warriors: Fighting to conquer cancer

Donation protected
Hello! We are Cecil's Warriors and we are helping to fund raise for our dearest sister as she and her family take this journey of healing from Ovarian cancer.

On Wednesday, August 11, 2021 we got a voice message from our dearest Cecil (then living in Saskatoon Canada) from her hospital bed with the saddest news one can imagine getting at 4 in the morning--"They found cancer... it looks like it is ovarian but they see lesions in my liver, lungs and lymph nodes..." Shocking and such painful news to hear from a dear friend who is like a sister to us who was just seemingly well 1.5 years ago when we last saw her in person in the US.

To make a long story short, in a matter of days, after a few face time calls with Cecil, we all decided that her coming back to the US ASAP was going to be her best bet to fighting this cancer and getting her back to health as quickly as possible. The diagnosis was not pretty--Stage 4 ovarian cancer with metastasis to the lungs, liver and lymph nodes; and we all knew (nurses and healthcare providers unite) that immediate oncology consult and treatment in the US healthcare system was imperative. So on Friday, August 13, with a one way business class ticket, our brave warrior, Cecil said see you soon to her two precious boys, Ifemi & David and husband Daniel and courageously (through the unrelenting pain, swelling and a hopeful spirit and heart flew 2 legs to make it to Dulles VA where Rosie (our super Medic) and I picked her up and drove straight to Sibley Hospital in DC (where Cecil and all of us used to work) so she could seek immediate care and treatment for her aggressive cancer.

The stories since then have been endless and so full of heart. God has ordered the steps of everyone Cecil has come across in this journey of hers back to health. We will do our best to share many of them to keep everyone inspired, believing and hopeful!

Cecil is currently recovering after 2 rounds of chemo at her home in Bowie, MD. Her husband Daniel, together with his family and their 2 sweet sons Ifemi (9) and David (7) stay hopeful and thankful for her healing and for all the help and prayers that have been extended to them in this time of need. They are tirelessly working around the clock to care for Cecil and to keep their family afloat during this challenging time.

Since Cecil was based in Canada for almost 2 years, she has no medical insurance here in the US even if she is a citizen. And like all challenges we face in life, we know that having a community and a united village makes the heavy burden more manageable! So we decided to put this fund raising effort together to gather all of the Warriors of Cecil to help her fight one of the hardest fights she has yet faced in this life. Please help us bless this beautiful soul and her family as they navigate this hiccup in their journey called life!

If you have ever had the pleasure of knowing Cecil or meeting her in person; or maybe you've been a student of hers in the past or present (she is always still teaching); maybe you've had the blessing of being a patient of hers (she's a super awesome nurse); maybe you are a family or friend or have been coached by Cecil to better your eating habits and health... We who have had the blessing of knowing this beautiful soul have been blessed beyond measure for the love and grace and constant uplifting words she has ever touched us with.

It's now our turn to love her back, to shower her with grace, prayers, a lending hand, lots of hugs, financial help and so much encouragement that she can FIGHT this FIGHT like all the challenges she has overcome and she will win this race!

Please consider what you and your family and friends can donate to help her family during this time of need! No amount is too small, and no amount is too big when it comes to blessing others!

100% of the proceeds will go to Cecil's family to cover all her healthcare needs and keep their family afloat during this time!

We thank you all in advance, Cecil's Warriors! Let's FIGHT ON!
