Hi, my name is Cece, and in 2023, my mom out of nowhere started getting really sick. Growing up, she always had really bad headaches, but somehow they got worse. She lost her ability to walk, work, and just do regular things. As time progressed, she started to lose her memory. At first, it was little details, then it progressed to her not remembering who we were. After a life-threatening seizure, she was taken to the hospital for treatment.

We later found out that she had a lot of fluid in her brain, which was causing all of her symptoms. They performed a plethora of tests and found that nothing was wrong with her, so we had no idea what had caused this. Soon, she had surgery where they placed a VP shunt in her head to help drain the fluid from her brain.

As of lately, the shunt has been malfunctioning, and she is starting to revert back to how she was when she was sick. She is constantly in and out of the hospital, and those medical bills are starting to add up.

She hasn’t been back at work since 2023, and my dad and I have been paying for all the bills plus rent and other necessities. Even though my dad would never admit it, I can tell it’s starting to weigh heavy on him.
