Hi, my name is Cecelia Stowers, but most people call me Cece. I live in West Bend, WI. And my parents are Lisa Gumm and Rudy Stowers. I have been playing rugby since I was around 8 years old and I have always had a passion for the sport. I was recently invited to go to Ireland with the Eagle Impact Rugby Acadamy (EIRA) from July 18th through the 30th. EIRA’s vision is to close the gap in the global game of rugby. Its mission is to identify and develop the next generation of players in America.
I grew up surrounded by family members who also had a passion for rugby and later became professional players. I started out playing flag rugby and in 6th grade started playing tackle rugby. I currently practice with the Marquette University Women’s Rugby Team. Last year I played on the Wisconsin High School Women's All Stars team, and I was the only freshman on the A Team. I have been helping coach the West Bend Youth Rugby team for several years. I am a sophomore at West Bend East High School and play for the Madtown Furies.
I would like to thank my family and coaches, especially Coach Michael Johnson, for all the time and support they’ve given to help me grow and succeed. It has always been my dream to play professional rugby and represent West Bend and the USA in the Olympics. This amazing opportunity from EIRA allows me to take steps toward my dream, and I am so thankful to have been invited. I hope you will help me achieve my goals by sharing or donating!
Thank you,
Cece
