Friends, family, and strangers, we need your help. Many of you know my amazing partner Caz. For those of you who do not know them, Caz is: a beloved third grownup to my kids, a steadfast friend to John, the Leslie to my Minnie Bruce, a loyal and generous friend to many, and a person who is always willing to lay down their last dollar or their time to help others. Caz has survived a lifetime of homelessness and housing instability due to homophobia and has, against long odds, built a thriving life here, but now they need your help staying housed. They had to sell their house, and the vagaries of the real estate market means they had to do so at a loss. Now, we need to help them come up with funds to cover the closing costs and the shortfall while still maintaining enough money to pay their rent in their new place. They are already able to front a third of the total themselves; we want to provide them with the rest. Please help: we are going to meet this goal by fives and tens from people who keep passing the same $20 around to whoever needs it most at the moment, supplemented by larger contributions from anyone less multiply-marginalized who can swing it.
