Help Caz Rebuild Stability as She Recovers from PTSD

Donation protected
My name is Caz, and I am reaching out for support as I begin rebuilding my life after complex PTSD. In 2023, during a catastrophic mudslide in Ojai, I came close to losing my life. The experience changed my sense of safety and left me with severe PTSD. In the months and years that followed I struggled with insomnia, nightmares, panic attacks, anxiety, and persistent flashbacks that made daily life increasingly difficult. Last year I spent six months in a residential treatment program that truly saved my life. Through intensive therapy I began to regain stability and hope. I am committed to continuing my healing process. Because of the PTSD that followed the mudslide, I have not been able to work consistently for nearly three years. I am now beginning to rebuild stability, balancing continued treatment with returning to creative work and financial independence.

At present I am without stable housing and working to secure an apartment in Los Angeles, close to my sister and longtime friends whose support is an important part of my recovery. My goal is to create an independent and sustainable life. Over the next year I plan to:
• Continue trauma-focused therapy
• Develop my artwork and creative practice
• Grow my tarot reading business
• Take on additional work as I rebuild financial independence

This year is about creating stability and momentum: giving myself the foundation needed to move forward with confidence and renewed hope.

The funds raised will provide a one-year runway of stability while I continue healing and building income. Specifically, they will help cover:
• Rent for an apartment in Los Angeles
• Security deposit and relocation costs
• Transport of furniture and art supplies from my home in Ojai
• Essential household setup costs as I establish a stable home

This campaign is not intended as long-term dependence, but as a bridge toward independence.

My parents, Jane and John, have supported me throughout my recovery and wanted to add a brief note of context.

As her parents, we are deeply proud of the resilience Caz has shown through years of extraordinary challenges. We have watched her confront trauma with honesty and courage. Again and again, she has returned to her creativity and artistic work as a way of making meaning and connection. Caz is a deeply gifted and sensitive artist with a rare imaginative voice, and even during the hardest periods she has remained committed to healing and to rebuilding her life. She is organizing this campaign herself and is determined to establish her financial independence. Over the past several years we have faced substantial rebuilding costs and long-term financial obligations following wildfire and flood damage, which now limit how much support we can provide on our own. Our greatest hope is to see Caz flourish, continue to grow, and return to a life of stability and joy.

Jane and John

If you are able to contribute at any level, your support will help me create a safe and stable foundation for this next chapter of my life. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for being part of this journey forward.

With gratitude,
Caz
