Last week, Cayman was outside with Lauren while he was going to the bathroom when a bear suddenly charged out of the woods. The bear charged towards Lauren, and Cayman instinctively stepped in to protect her. In doing so, he suffered devastating injuries and nearly lost his life. Cayman underwent emergency surgery and is now facing a long recovery, but his bravery likely saved Lauren from being seriously injured. He truly is a hero.

Cayman’s injuries were extensive, and the emergency surgery was just the beginning of his journey. He will need some more ongoing veterinary care, surgery & medications to regain his strength and to battle some new infections that have happened. The emotional toll on Lauren and her family has been immense, but they are so grateful for the outpouring of support from friends, neighbors, and animal lovers everywhere. Cayman’s courage has touched many hearts, and his story is a reminder of the incredible bond between pets and their families.

We are raising funds to help Lauren cover Cayman's medical expenses and ongoing care. Any funds raised beyond Cayman's needs will be donated to emergency vet services to help other pets in need when emergency situations happen.
