Help Cayce and Kelly

Donation protected

Above is a picture taken in their neighborhood the night of the flood.  This is what they woke up to a 2AM.

We are so thankful God protected them and they made it out alive!  Now they are trying to put together the pieces of a home taken over by the water.  They have lost both cars and their home and most things in it are ruined.  Unfortunately insurance is not coming into play so donations from friends is what is needed to help right now.  Kelly, an amazing mom and nurse has shared her story and I know anything you can give would make a difference.  I’m also sharing her experience...

“I can’t even begin to try to convey of what has transpired over the last 24 hours. But here it is.

Our house was ruined in the flash flood last night.

How long could we last while the water was overtaking our house? It was raging in the backyard. We have a three year old. We have a dog. 911 wasn’t answering. Our friend John couldn’t get to us from the north side of Edmondson.
We decided to try to get out. I strapped Oliver to me wearing his old baby carrier. We opened the door. The water rushed in even faster and pinned the glass door shut so we couldn’t open it. I handed my trusty utility flashlight(thank you work) to Cayce to break the glass. Cayce went first, down the two steps. He held his hand out for me and Oliver. And there we went into the cold, raging water. We were slowly treading our way through now waist deep water, on our sidewalk, trying to make it to the driveway to walk up to the street. We made it just to the end of the sidewalk and then the current was more powerful here than 2 feet before. Oliver and I were being swept away from cayce. Cayce caught the rear window wiper and then reached out to catch a hold of my backpack. He pulled us back around to the side of the Armada. We were now pinned against the car from this turbulent water.

I was starting to panic. Here we are helpless & alone. I starting praying out loud to God to send help. I said, “We need help right now dear Lord, please help us.”

I don’t know how much time had passed, whether it was 5 or 15 minutes. We see 3 trucks at the end of our road. I told Cayce use the flashlight! We were yelling, “HELP US! WE HAVE A BABY” He waved that trusty flashlight and one of the trucks came to help us.

There was a man in the bed of the truck. He threw a rescue bag to us but the current was so strong the rope never made it. Then the driver came out and got the rope from his friend and started walking down our driveway. He walked to us like he walking on a dry street, as if there wasn’t a flood happening. He looked at me and asked for the baby. I told him that he was strapped to me. He then nodded his head to me and said ok. He said grab the rope with your hand and hold on to me. Cayce was back behind me. And there we went. He told me to relax. It was going to be ok. We were safe. We got to the street and I began to weep. He told me God sent him. I said, “I literally just prayed for you”. And I began to sob even more. We got in their truck and as he reversed, I glanced to my right to see our dog laying on the couch, where I told her to go as the water started coming in the house.

We were safe. We made it my brother and sister-in-laws house. We rested until the sun came up. My sister-in-law and I made the trek back to our house. We needed to see if Tessa was still there. The water had receded like there was never rampage that had been there. I walked through the broken glass door and started yelling her name. I heard nothing. I began to get a little more frantic with calling here. We found her. She made her way to our bedroom and hopped up on our bed, uninjured and safe.

We had friends come over and they helped us get clean clothes. They moved all of the furniture out and swept the glass stricken floor. Tomorrow we go back and try to make some sense of what’s left.”
