I’m Cathy, and I never imagined I would be in this position. I lost my job after struggling with severe cognitive problems and clinical depression, and the very next day my psychiatrist formally diagnosed me with bipolar disorder. Since then, I have been working closely with my doctor to find treatment that works. It has been a difficult road, especially after having severe reactions to many medications, but I am finally close to becoming medically stabilized. Even so, I have not been able to work steadily, and I am now facing an extreme financial emergency while trying to stay in treatment and keep my life from falling apart.

Right now, I need help covering overdue psychiatric care, this week’s urgent appointment, and next month’s visit. I also need help paying for vital prescriptions and the monthly blood tests required to safely continue treatment. At the same time, I am behind on my mortgage, facing fees and arrears, trying to prevent utility shutoff, and at immediate risk of foreclosure. I am actively job searching and selling everything I can, but my credit cards are maxed out and I am behind on every major bill.
