Help Cathy Stay in Her Home with her Sweet Pup

Hi…my name is Cathy Cole. Two years ago, I unexpectedly lost my husband and love of my life. Since then, it’s just been me and my pup, living in our house in So. Cal. I’m partially handicapped but have been getting along fine until back in February when I noticed a sore on my right calf. The sore turned into a major infection, eventually turning necrotic, and I wound up being in the hospital for about 8 weeks. After being released from the hospital, I had to go into rehab because I had become very weak. During my stay in rehab, my infection finally started to get better, but I hadn’t made enough advancements in regaining my strength as Medicare wanted to see, and they wanted me to sell my home and send me to a nursing home permanently, which I steadfastly refused to do!!! I’m only 70 years old for cryin’ out loud. I had my pup at home (being cared for by my wonderful neighbors) and my home that I needed to get back to. There was NO WAY I was going to let them put me away for good.

I was able to convince them that I just needed a few more weeks of physical therapy and some in-home help in order for me to regain my strength enough to be on my own again. They’ve given me a couple of weeks of in-home care, but I am going to need a little more to get me over the hump and get strong enough to be able to be on my own. Unfortunately, I have to pay for some of the in-home care myself, and I’m on a fixed income. As is usually the case with Medicare, I make too much for more care, and too little to afford it all on my own.

Would you be kind enough, please, to donate a few dollars to help me get over this hump and allow me to stay in my home with my sweet pup?
