Hi,
I am raising money to help my Godmother, Cathy Pera.
As many of you know, Cathy suffered a fall in January, causing two breaks and a spiral fracture in her arm. What would have resulted in a difficult period for the average person has become a catastrophic, life-changing event for Cathy. Even though the breaks will never heal on their own, the orthopedic surgeon in town will not operate because of her juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. She has spent the last couple of months with a severely debilitated arm in a loose homemade sling. She is mostly confined to a wheelchair because she is unable to use her crutches. Having very limited use of that hand means she needs help with most everyday tasks we take for granted. Her only hope is to go to Mayo Clinic for an evaluation for surgery. Their first opening is in June. In the meantime, the bills are starting to pile up. Hospital, doctors, and home nurse charges are a few. She’s also in desperate need of a new ramp that accommodates her wheelchair and an electric recliner to sleep and sit in. If all this isn’t overwhelming enough, hotels, gas, and Mayo Clinic bills will be coming up in the near future. With her husband Bill (Cliff) being her full-time caregiver, he’s been only able to work a few hours a week, causing even more financial stress. Please share this and contribute if you can.
