Since last week, my mother-in-law Cathy, has been hospitalized for a major lung infection that she developed. She hasn't been working, and we have no idea how long she won't be able to do so. She'll need to take medication for six weeks once home and is having issues with her insurance. She is relying on the sole income of her husband, Jerry. Cathy and Jerry have been married for 30 years.

While Cathy was waiting to be discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, 2/24, Jerry was picked up by ICE at their home. At four years old, Jerry's mother brought him from Canada into the United States, and has been in this country now for 63 years. He has a social security number and had been legally working in the U.S. since before my husband (Jerry's stepson) met him as a toddler.

Jerry is currently being detained at a county prison an hour away from his home while his wife is still hospitalized and not able to do anything right now. I'm just asking to help out for medical bills, house bills and crazy legal fees that they are going to soon be I'm sure will be getting.

I know we all have differences, and if you don't agree, then please just move on. This is my mother-in-laws husband; my husband's stepfather, who is all he's really ever known; and my kids grandfather, who is the the only one they've ever known.
