Our beloved friend Cathryn is fighting for her life. She’s battling life-threatening sepsis and is now paralyzed.
After years of being misdiagnosed and struggling to get health care, Cathryn was finally found to have a pituitary tumor. By the time doctors caught it, her body was already in crisis. She developed two severe bacterial infections (sepsis) and went into adrenal failure, which caused multiple organ injuries.
During one of these adrenal crises, she lost feeling and movement from the waist down — leaving her paralyzed. She will need to learn to use a wheelchair and adapt to a whole new life.
As if that’s not enough, doctors are struggling to contain her ongoing sepsis, and she’s had several surgeries, including the removal of skin on her left leg, which may still require further amputation.
On top of this, she’s been hospitalized for months and has lost her home because of her inability to work due to illness and parenting. When she leaves the hospital, she’ll have to recover while caring for four children, two of whom also have serious health challenges — all while facing homelessness, disability, and the aftermath of years of crisis while single parenting.
Through all of it, Cathryn has fought with incredible courage and grace. She is the kind of person who, even from a hospital bed, worries more about her kids and friends than herself. But now, she needs our help.
Your donation will go directly toward:
• Safe, accessible housing for Cathryn and her children
• Wheelchair and mobility support
• Medical and rehabilitation expenses
• Basic needs for her family while she recovers
If you can’t give, please share her story. Every bit of support helps her take the next step toward stability, healing, and hope.
Thank you for reading, and for caring.
