Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

I’m reaching out on behalf of my dear friend, Catherine Shields, who is currently facing the fight of her life. At 64 years old, she has just been diagnosed with Metastatic Cancer - an unimaginable reality that has turned her world upside down.

For her entire life, Cathie has been fiercely independent and self-sufficient. She’s the kind of person who gives without expecting anything in return, who’s always been there for others without ever asking for help herself. But now, she needs us.

Her care will be led by the incredible team at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where she’ll undergo intensive treatments, appointments, and procedures in hopes of giving her more time — more time to fight, to hope, and to be with the people who love her most.

Due to the seriousness of her condition, Cathie has been given a direct medical order that she cannot work indefinitely. This means that along with the physical and emotional toll of cancer, she is now facing a devastating financial burden — rent, utilities, food, and travel to and from Boston for treatment, all without a steady income.

No one should have to worry about finances while battling for their life. That’s why we’re asking for your help.

Every dollar raised will go directly toward supporting Cathie — covering living expenses, medical bills not covered by insurance, and the costs associated with getting to and from Dana-Farber.
