Help Catherine Rebuild After Hurricane Helene

My mother, Catherine Dubord (Leghart) and her two furry feline friends had their home flooded by Hurricane Helene. She moved to Apollo Beach, Florida from Ohio approximately 11 years ago to be close to her grandchildren, daughters, and son-in-laws. She wanted to watch her grandchildren grow up. Flooding in her neighborhood hasn't occurred in a very long time. Thankfully, she has structural flood insurance, but as we all know, there are still so many out-of-pocket expenses, including deductible ($5000), monthly storage, temporary housing, and in her case, insurance didn't cover the contents of her home, so replacing the furniture and belongings lost. She will need to replace her couches, mattress, washer, dryer, clothing, shoes, food, rugs, and TV. Her home flooded with salt and sewage water, and so much could not be salvaged.

Some of the young men pictured are her grandchildren and their neighborhood friends who spent countless hours helping to clean out and pack her home. We had other friends come together to help her family move her salvaged belongings to a storage unit. Catherine could do very little on her own due to her mobility issues. Catherine is 62 and uses two canes to mobilize herself in the home. She uses a scooter for short distances due to degeneration of both hips and spine, and her body is riddled with arthritis.

While her salvaged belongings have been moved to temporary storage, this is still a long process that will require monies, and we are so thankful for any funds that our community far and wide can spare and donate. All money donated will go directly to Catherine to help her cover immediate expenses, including cleaning products, moving expenses , insurance deductible, remediation of the water to prevent mold growth, and replacement of necessities. Hopefully she will receive enough to begin replacing some of her belongings. We are eternally grateful for donations of any amount
