Help Catherine Knock Cancer Out

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Catherine Meullion Hayes, and here’s my story.

I am 62 years of age and was married to Robert Benjamin Hayes for 10 ½ years where we gave birth to 3 beautiful children, two sons and one daughter, who have made me a grandmother to 8 wonderful grandchildren.

A 1978 graduate of Opelousas Catholic School, I enrolled at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL), now known as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for one year majoring in Special Education to grow in my passion for helping people. (My family calls me ‘The Fix-It Woman.’)

Some hobbies of mine include playing the game tennis and bowling, as well as dancing and singing. Speaking of using my voice, since 1995, I have been a member of Holy Ghost Church Tabernacle Choir, KPC (Knights of Peter Claver) Lady of Auxiliary Court #8, and Women of Grace.

Only God knew of my immense love and goodwill for helping others. In 1989, He guided me to start working in the hospital setting and as time moved forward in my life, I worked for 30 years helping people within that setting and I loved my work deeply.

One morning, I decided to have breakfast at McDonald’s and met Mrs. Angela Beverly. The Lord put Mrs. Beverly in my path for me to embark on a new and amazing journey in my life. In 2018, she asked me how my life was and I responded well I’m looking for a change. She then said to me to come and see her and I did. The Lord worked through Mrs. Beverly to lead me to Holy Trinity Villa as their Assistant Manager, working in an independent home for the elderly and disabled residents. God knew my heart at that time and shepherded me to where I was truly needed. My life was surrounded around them and the difficulties that they had to endure in life. If I could help in any way, I was there to make it better.

One morning, God said to me ‘I have another journey for you, my child, and it may not be easy, but with faith and belief in me, I will walk with you through this journey.’ Suddenly, on September 6, 2022, I was diagnosed with cancer. My doctor stated that I needed to go to MD Anderson in Houston, Texas for further testing and my cancer was diagnosed as Myxofibrosarcoma, a very rare cancer.

This is where my life in Jesus Christ has begun and where my new life will begin and continue with Faith, Hope, and Love in Him. I have been through 4 cycles of chemotherapy treatment and God is still working through me, the medicine, and the doctors. Due to my illness and having to undergo chemotherapy and radiation, my finances are limited as MD Anderson is the best hospital for my condition but very costly. The funds will be used for many expenses that come with seeking cancer treatment, such as general medical expenses, transportation, medication, and various doctor visits.

Join me, my family, and God as we battle our way through this illness by DONATING TODAY to help me knock cancer out!

"These things have I spoken to you. That my joy may remain in you. And that your joy may be full." (John 15:11)
