Help Catherin Rebuild After Christmas Hit-and-Run

Our friend, Catherin Henao, was driving west on D Street at 10pm last Saturday, when her car was struck by another motorist speeding across D st on 5th. This dangerous intersection has barriers to prevent cars from crossing D, but the white truck sped through anyway, bouncing over the barriers and smashing Catherin's car. The driver of the white truck then sped away from the scene.

Catherin's car is totaled and her insurance will not pay, since in order to afford the car in the first place, she bought one with a salvage title. She still owes $9,000 on loan for this now destroyed car.

As if this were not bad enough, one of the people that helped her out of the crushed car stole the envelope she had inside, that contained cash that she had saved up for her rent payment, due right after Christmas.

Catherin is a single mother raising a 12 yr old boy, and now she cannot afford Christmas for him, or to pay her rent, or to pay back her car loan. Luckily, her injuries are not life threatening, but they are bad enough to keep her from working for some time, which makes the situation so much harder.
