Hi! My name is Catherine Conner. This is one thing i never thought i would need to do but also i never thought i would be diagnosed with cancer at 27, specifically Rhabdomyosarcoma. On November 6th, a little over a month after having a polyp removed from my cervix during a yearly gynecologist appointment, I got a call from my gynecologist saying they had found cancerous cells. I just remember being in pure shock and then crying uncontrollably. Cancer is something that has affected quite a few people in my family but you never expect that call yourself. A week later i met with an oncologist and little did i know the next few weeks would be a whirlwind of PET scans, MRIs & pap smears. Then I had my first cancer-related surgery, a cone biopsy to see if there were any microscopic lingering cancer cells in my cervix. Two months after my initial diagnosis, I had another surgery, this time to insert a chest port to begin chemotherapy treatments. over the last four months, i’ve had weekly doctor’s appointments, bloodwork & chemo treatments. i have two more months to go with treatments plus at least one more surgery & multiple scans coming up. the medical bills are already overwhelming. i’m not one to usually ask for help but one thing i’ve learned as i’ve gotten older is it’s not a weakness to ask for help when you need it. i’m extremely thankful to still have my job during chemo but when each weekly chemo treatment (with insurance!) is $200-800, your paycheck only goes so far. i do have a print site for anyone who would like to support that way as well. i know times are tight for everyone so i appreciate any donation, big or small.
