On our drive to California from Washington on June 13, our lovely dog Catalina suddenly lost the use of her two back legs. We saw that she was walking sideways, then collapsing at the park. We initially thought it was just stiffness from being in the car for too long, but when she could not pee or stand on her own, this was when we rushed her to the emergency pet clinic in Santa Cruz, California. Even in excruciating pain, Catalina was the same old happy dog she always is. Nevertheless, we were told by our vet that she likely has a herniated disc that is compressing her spinal cord. To rule things out like tumors, cancer, and nerve damage, our vet would require an MRI to see what is exactly going on with our girl. Unfortunately, an MRI costs anywhere between 4-5k, not including surgery. Surgery would also add another 4-5k to the cost.

Unfortunately, this is money that we do not have as I am in school to become a teacher, and Angela is a public school classroom teacher. Anyone who has met Catalina would agree that she is the sweetest dog ever. She likes running, chasing squirrels, wrestling with her little brother Sokka,  and giving you the best cuddles that you can ask for. Catalina is 6, so she still has lots of life, and we would love to live out the rest of her natural life with her as planned.

We will always put Catalina's needs first and make sure she gets everything she needs before making a life-altering choice.
