Hello, my name is Jorge Lozano, I am Colombian and an Architect by profession. I am raising funds for the treatment of my daughter Catalina Lozano. This is our story: My daughter Catalina was diagnosed on January 18, 2021, with cancer (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia), at the age of 7. This news radically changed our lives, but especially hers. One thinks that the worst thing that can happen to a child at this age is a cold or an intestinal virus, but never that they have to struggle between life and death and experience so much physical and emotional pain.

I saw with total sadness how our lives were crumbling before us and with an uncertain future. In my home country (Colombia) we started treatment at the FUNDACIÓN CARDIO INFANTIL clinic in the city of Bogotá, where we began the first chemotherapy cycles corresponding to the treatment. Despite being a very long path (about three years), these chemotherapy cycles were giving the expected results and my daughter and we were seeing hope in this process. After completing the treatment and financially depleted, as caring for our daughter at the clinic demanded time and a lot of money, to the point of selling our assets that we had at the time, we decided to come to the US in search of a better future and try to "forget" this painful chapter in our lives. However, my daughter had to continue with periodic check-ups and reviews to ensure that everything was in order. Everything was going well, we thought that this diagnosis had been completely overcome, but unfortunately, it was not so. On October 26 of this year (2025), my daughter's blood tests showed this terrible news again. The disease had returned, but this time not as acute lymphoblastic leukemia but as acute myeloid leukemia. This new diagnosis is quite disconcerting, as a new leukemia is uncommon. At this moment, my daughter is being treated at the Nicklaus Children's Hospital in the city of Miami. Here, my daughter is again in chemotherapy cycles and, as recommended by the pediatric hematologist oncologist, the goal is to take her to a bone marrow transplant. At this point, the treatment was again financially draining us and our savings. This, along with policies, medical insurance, and other necessary things, makes this journey supremely expensive. I asked for loans from banks and financial help from family members to get us this far. We have a long way to go in this process and fight in this difficult path against cancer. This has not only been an event that has changed Catalina's life but also ours as a family. We need financial support to give her a better chance of treatment and recovery to offer her a healthy and happy life like every child deserves. These have been days of anguish and fear, no family should go through this situation.

Hola me llamo Jorge Lozano, soy Colombiano y Arquitecto de profesión. Estoy recaudando fondos para el tratamiento de mi hija Catalina Lozano. Esta es nuestra historia:

Mi hija catalina fue diagnosticada el 18 de enero del 2021 con cáncer (Leucemia Linfocítica Aguda), a la edad de 7 años. Esta noticia cambio radicalmente nuestras vidas, pero especialmente la de catalina. Uno cree que lo máximo que pueda pasarle a un niño a esta edad es un resfriado o un virus intestinal, pero nunca que deban debatirse entre la vida y la muerte y que tengan que experimentar tanto dolor físico y emocional. Vi con total tristeza como nuestras vidas se derrumbaban frente a nosotros y con un futuro incierto.

En mi país de origen (Colombia) iniciamos el tratamiento en la clínica FUNDACIÓN CARDIO INFANTIL en la ciudad de Bogotá, allí iniciamos los primeros ciclos de quimioterapia correspondientes al tratamiento. A pesar de ser un camino bastante largo (alrededor de tres años) estos ciclos de quimioterapia daban los resultados esperados y mi hija junto a nosotros veíamos esperanza en este proceso.

Culminado el tratamiento y acabados financieramente, pues al cuidar a nuestra hija en la clínica demandaba tiempo y mucho dinero, al punto de vender nuestros activos que se tenían en se momento, decidimos venir a EE.UU. en busca de un mejor futuro y tratar de “olvidar “este capítulo tan doloroso en nuestras vidas. Sin embargo, mi hija debía seguir con controles y revisiones de manera periódica para asegurarnos, que todo seguía en orden.

Todo iba bien, pensamos que este diagnóstico había sido superado en su totalidad, pero lamentablemente no fue así. El 26 de octubre de este año en curso (2025) los análisis de sangre de mi hija evidenciaban nuevamente esta terrible noticia. La enfermedad había regresado pero esta vez no como leucemia linfocítica aguda sino como leucemia mieloide aguda. Este nuevo diagnóstico es bastante desconcertante, pues es poco usual una nueva leucemia.

En estos momentos, mi hija esta siendo tratada en el nicklaus children hospital de la ciudad de miami. Aquí mi hija esta nuevamente en ciclos de quimioterapia y por recomendación del médico hemato oncológico pediátrico, el objetivo es llevarla a un trasplante de medula ósea.

Para este momento, el tratamiento estaba acabando nuevamente financieramente con nosotros y nuestros ahorros. Esto junto con pólizas, seguros médicos y demás cosas necesarias hacen de esta travesía algo supremamente costoso. Pedí prestamos en bancos y ayuda financiera a familiares para poder llegar hasta aquí.

Nos queda un camino largo en este proceso y lucha en este difícil camino contra el cáncer. Este no ha sido solo un evento que ha cambiado la vida de catalina sino también de nosotros como familia. necesitamos de apoyo financiero para darle una mejor oportunidad de tratamiento y de recuperación para ofrecerle una vida sana y feliz como todo niño merece. han sido días de angustia y temor, ninguna familia debería pasar por esta situación.

necesitamos de su apoyo para poder continuar en este proceso y así superar este difícil momento, ella transmite ternura y mucho cariño, pero sobre todo ha sido muy valiente. estamos ilusionados en que esta nueva etapa será Superada con éxito, los fondos se usaran para costear su tratamiento traslados y demás cuentas que ella necesita, agradezco inmensamente su colaboración por favor comparte y dona!!
