Help Cassiee & Carl with Baby Scarlett's Medical Journey

Cassiee & Carl found out they were expecting their last child together in May of 2024, a baby girl they would later name Scarlett. Everything was going well until their 20 week anatomy scan when their baby was diagnosed with AV Canal Defect(a rare condition that creates a hole in her heart separating the chambers of the heart). This diagnosis meant that their baby would need open heart surgery shortly after being born.

During Cassiee’s pregnancy she was closely monitored which lead to an overnight stay at the hospital on November 25th, 2024. During this stay they realized Cassiee had a problem with her uterus from a former Emergency C-Section. After monitoring her closely they realized she also was presenting with contractions and some pain and discomfort. Tuesday, November 26th, they consulted with a neonatal team in Portland to gather some more information on Cassiee’s situation as well as consult with them about the condition of Scarlett’s health. They decided that even though she was only 32 weeks, to go ahead and schedule a C Section for later that day.

Scarlett was born at 32 weeks and is considered stable right now, however her journey medically is not over. Cassiee and Carl are both out of work during this current time and have 5 other children at home to care for. They will have countless trips to either Portland or Boston for their daughter and will be spending money on hotels, gas, food, and other expenses that may arise. With them both being out of work right now, this puts a huge financial stress on their family.

It is understandable that this world is tough on everyone right now financially and this time of the year makes giving just a little bit tougher! But if you can give, even just a dollar, it is much appreciated!
