Help Cassie Labes and Family Through This Crisis

Donation protected

Those who know Cassie know she is the most incredible mom, wife, daughter, and friend. Cassie's most favorite things in this world are her sons Lucas and Landon, going on adventures with her husband Chris, and her family/huge friend group. Her hobbies are also an important part of her life. She crochets some of the most amazing pieces, creates beautiful paintings, and her homemade Halloween costumes are just a glimpse into her incredible artistic talents. Cassie's two boys Lucas and Landon are her ENTIRE world, she loves those boys with her entire heart and soul. Recently the Labes family received some extremely unfortunate news and really need your support.

Roughly two weeks before Halloween Cassie was having pain in her abdomen so she visited Multicare Yakima Memorial Emergency Department and was given a diagnosis of early signs of a Fatty Liver. Five days after this diagnosis Cassie went back to Memorial because of the progressing amount of pain and she was jaundiced. They ran some more tests and sent her home with a specialist referral for January. Chris felt she couldn't wait that long and took her to Prosser Hospital. Same outcome, and they sent her home. A few days later Chris brought her back in and she was admitted. The next morning, they suggested putting her in hospice with an expected 90 days to live and stated she was not eligible for a liver transplant. They also did not know why it was progressing so fast. Chris immediately discharged her and took her to the best liver hospital in the state. University of Washington Medicine. Once they arrived at University of Washington, they were given immediate care and placed in a room. Within a few hours the specialists confirmed the diagnosis of Liver Failure with the same prognosis as Prosser but she CAN be eligible for a Liver Transplant. She was then transferred to the 4SE Kidney Dialysis & Liver Transplant wing.

Cassie is still at University of Washington for the foreseeable future. The doctors are doing their absolute best to keep her comfortable. We are optimistic that her MELD score (which was 33 upon arrival and now down to 29) will continue to decrease to a sustainable level. The hospital is doing everything to stabilize her body to be ready if and when she is eligible for a Liver Transplant. While at University of Washington she's already overcame an infection and her kidney failing; we have high hopes she will overcome the original prognosis of 90 days to live.

We don't know what the future holds, but we are all hopeful that she will be eligible for a liver transplant, however the cost will be astronomical. Cassie hasn't been able to work the last few weeks and isn't expected to return back to work. Chris, her loving husband, has taken time off work to be by her side. With Christmas approaching and Chris taking the necessary time off work to be with Cassie, the family would be eternally grateful for any support. Cassie and Chris have 2 AMAZING teenage boys who deserve a great Christmas after everything that has been going on. The entire family is more than appreciative for anything you can do to help. Please pray for my friend's family. No donation is too small, even just to share this request would mean the world to us.

It is with a hopeful heart that through our friends, family, and strangers we can help make a positive impact on the Labes family.

Any questions you may have, or for an address to drop off donations other than money please message Kaitlyn Murphy on Facebook.
