Cassie, a devoted mother of two and a caregiver to her own mother, is facing her second battle with cancer.
If you know Cassie, you already know how much heart she puts into the people she loves. If you don't, here's what you should know: she has spent her life showing up for others, often through real hardship and without giving up. All of her pets are rescues, including a wonderfully chaotic dog named JuneBug, who has kept the family humble ever since they rescued her from a drug house. As a neighbor, community member, and friend, she is reliable, caring and always has a smile for others. She shows up for her mom every single day. That's just who she is.
Now she needs us to show up for her.
Cassie needs multiple surgeries to remove cancer cells, plus a back surgery, all while battling a drug-resistant infection that may require specialist care. Despite everything, when she's feeling well enough, she hits the gym and has lost 100 pounds over the last three years. She is not someone sitting still. She is fighting as hard as she possibly can.
But medical costs don't care how hard you're fighting. After losing a solid job to government cuts, the financial ground shifted fast. Her daughter is already working two jobs to help keep things afloat. The bills for treatment, medications, and travel to appointments keep climbing, and there is no easy answer in sight.
To help cover what insurance won't, her family has begun selling her cherished BTS collection because that's what this moment calls for. But more help is needed.
Every dollar raised goes directly to Cassie's cancer treatment and medications, transportation to appointments, and essential living expenses while she heals.
Her spirits are good most days. That's pure Cassie. Help us make sure she can keep feeling that way.
We're looking to raise 5k as our first goal to cover some of the current expenses that are piling up, with a 14k goal overall to support Cassie and her family through this long journey.
Any amount, big or small, is deeply appreciated and will make a real difference. And if you can't give, words of encouragement and a share to your friends and family would mean the world to Cassie too.
Thank you for being part of her village.
