Help Cassie Beat Breast Cancer After Losing Her Insurance
Donation protected
In mid-November, Cassie was diagnosed with breast cancer. She immediately started her treatment journey and informed her employer of her medical condition so they could plan for her absence post-surgery. Cassie has worked in human performance for the United States Air Force for three years. Days after scheduling her surgery, her employer laid her off, informing her she would only have employment and medical insurance for 6 more days. This has brought on an exponential increase in stress on every level, including financial. Continuing her health insurance through Cobra, which she must do to keep her scheduled surgery and oncology care, will cost almost $900 per month (not including any coinsurance or copays). Cassie is an independent person who others rely on for help, but now she finds herself in a position where she needs help. Cassie hopes to receive unemployment benefits to defray some of the expense of being unemployed while undergoing cancer treatment, but is reaching out to her community to help fill the gap between unemployment benefits and her usual wages (and the added cost of Cobra). Any assistance that you can spare (from a hug to a casserole to a few bucks) would be very much appreciated.
