Help Cassidy Heal: Support Her Recovery
Donation protected
On Mothers Day 2025, my wonderful twin daughters woke me up to a dozen roses, Mother’s Day cake and a two foot tall card. These girls are the light of my life. We spent the day planting flowers, playing baseball and swimming. At approximately 8:15 pm we decided to ride bikes down the road. Cassidy was out in front racing, I was directly behind her and Kadence further back. Cassidy’s front tires got loose, she immediately went down onto the gravel at a decent rate of speed. Being directly behind her, I had absolutely no time to react. I went over her, flying into the road also.
Cassidy was bleeding from the mouth, couldn’t breathe, gasping “momma”. I screamed and screamed for an ambulance to be called down our rural country road. Several neighbors responded. An ambulance & several first responders arrived sometime later. Cassidy is currently in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Indiana. She has a laceration of her liver, has underwent several diagnostic procedures with no clear answers. Blood work is showing she is still internally bleeding.
Her hospital stay will likely be a week at minimum according to doctors. I’m hoping and praying for a miracle. Words cannot describe how much I love my family. Unfortunately a week prior to this incident my husband Richard was let go of his job as a service advisor due to his company not being able to pay his wages. We have no income, and our insurance status is currently unknown. Even after 23 years serving in the US military and 3 deployments, he wasn’t allowed to keep his tricare insurance. He was due to return to work today at a new job but simply cannot with the state of Cassidy. Everything & anything helps, even if it’s just honest to god hand drawn cards from kids she knows in the community.
Cassidys liver laceration is a grade five. Which is of the highest concern. Please please pray for her.
UPDATE:
BEST NEWS!!
Our little precious Elfie (Cassidy) has been released from the Pediatric ICU! Her liver is stable, as well as her blood counts.
Going forward:
Absolutely no activities of any kind other than walking to kitchen, bedroom, things of that nature for one month. This is extremely crucial as her liver is in a fragile state for some time.
In five days, we have to return to another appointment with her trauma team.
Cassidy’s glasses were broken in the accident as well as her braces. Both will need appointments and repairs/replacements when she is physically able.
Cassidy cannot return to any type of physical actives til the end of August.
Full recovery of her liver will take 6 months to a year.
Again, we cannot thank everyone enough for all the support during this time. This is nothing short of a miracle.
