My name is Cassandra Prieto, a 21 year old mother from Orosi, California. On July 9th at about 3pm, a devastating apartment fire took everything from us, our home, our belongings, and our sense of security. I was living with my 3-year old daughter and my five siblings, who are in my care: ages 17, 12, 10, 9, and 5. In an instant, we were left with nothing but the clothes on our backs. We are now displaced and in urgent need of help to rebuild our lives. As the primary caregiver for my siblings and a full time mom, this loss has put an overwhelming burden on my shoulders. We’re doing our best to stay strong, but we can’t do it alone.
