On March 2, Cassandra went to the ER in unbearable pain. Doctors discovered a gallbladder stone, and a procedure was done to remove it. Tragically, the procedure led to severe complications - her digestive system became inflamed, and she developed pancreatitis.
Since that day, Cassandra has endured constant, intense abdominal pain and has been unable to eat solid food. At the end of March, she was transferred to a larger hospital in Detroit - more than two hours away from her home and her 11-year-old son, where she remains in ICU today. Doctors removed her gallbladder and inserted a feeding tube, but complications have continued - her intestines remain infected and inflamed, and she can only drink small sips of water.
Cassandra is facing a long and uncertain recovery. Being so far from home, she misses her son deeply, and the emotional and financial toll is overwhelming. Her brother has been traveling back and forth to support her, but the costs of hospital bills, transportation, and missed work are adding up quickly.
