Help Cass Flourish: Support Gender Affirming Care

I am embarking on a deeply personal and transformative journey towards gender-affirming care that will unfold over the next two years. This journey includes multiple stages of surgery, starting this Spring. Each one being crucial to aligning my physical body with my authentic being.

As a Black trans person, I’ve faced & will continue facing my share of challenges, challenges that many of us with intersectional identities within the community know all too well. The current wave of anti-trans legislation and the rising tide of violence makes it clear that the fight for our rights and dignity is far from over. In these uncertain times, it’s more important than ever to continue advocating for ourselves, for our futures, and for the freedom to live authentically.

Currently, I am balancing full-time graduate school, mutual aid organizing, working full-time, and interning in my field, all while navigating the financial and emotional toll of this journey.

The surgeries I will undergo all require significant recovery time, and traveling, meaning I will need to take multiple months off work throughout this process. During this time, I will not be able to receive my regular income, adding another layer of financial difficulty and stress. Your support will go toward covering medical expenses, travel expenses to out of state medical facilities, recovery costs, and lost wages during my time off.

This isn’t just about one person’s transition; this is about resisting the harmful forces & oppressive systems that seek to erase our community and finding the strength to live unapologetically. Every step I take on this journey is a small victory for trans visibility, dignity, and acceptance.
