The strongest woman I know is still fighting for her life. Last year we reopened Casie's GoFundMe because her Cancer was the worst it has been, on top of that she suffered a stroke and had lost her ability to speak coherently. At that time Casie's prognosis was not good. By the grace of God Casie was selected to receive a ground breaking infusion. The doctors shared that the infusion would not cure her and if it worked, it would work for 6-18 months. During these infussions Casie also had numerous appointments for her speech. We are happy to report that her speech is almost at 80% or higher. The infussions also worked for Casie for almost a year. Unfortunately we started noticing that her Plural Effusion was returning which indicated that her cancer had outsmarted her infusions. A scan did confirm that there were new areas of Cancer.
Now for the good news and the purpose of us reopening this GoFundMe to help Casie and her family. Casie's case was submitted to MD Anderson in Houston TX, this cancer hospital is the leading cancer treatment center in the United States, if not the world. This week Casie got the call that she has been approved!!!
Casie, Carlos, and her sister Carie (who is a nurse and a strong advocate for Casie) are flying down to Houston on January 25, 2025. With that said, this process will have expenses that are not covered by Casie's insurance such as travel expenses and her caretakers taking time off work to be with her in Houston. We have used this GoFundMe a few times and therefore it has previous donations ($5300) already raised into the goal.
We appreciate all of your donations but I know Casie appreciates all the prayers even more. If you would prefer donating using Venmo (Carlos Siggers @SiggyWorld) or Paypal (@SiggyWorld).
In 2018, six years ago, we created a Go Fund Me for Casie and her family to help cover medical cost (deductible and co-pays) when she was fighting stage IV Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Over the course of the past 5 years Casie has had numerous highs and lows. The first diagnosis was devastating with a poor prognosis, but Casie beat the odds and was able to go into remission after a double mastectomy, several rounds of Chemotherapy, and radiation.
In 2022 she had bacterial meningitis in her spine, which was misdiagnosed and she spent over 74 days in the hospital. By the grace of God they were finally able to determine the cause of her paralysis and delirium. Casie had to relearn how to do almost all life skills such walking, eating, fine motor movements, etc. she spent months in physical and occupational therapy.
Unfortunately during a wellness scan in 2023, Casie's cancer was detected again. Casie again met with specialists to determine the best treatment plan to fight her triple negative breast cancer. A few months into her chemotherapy, she had a stroke which was caused by her treatments. This stroke effected her ability to understand what was being said to her, and also effected her ability to speak. Since her stroke Casie has suffered with Broca's Aphasia, which basically means she speaks in "word salad", this has required months of therapy to recover her speech. She has improved a lot and understands what is being said to her, sometimes she still mixes up her words when she is talking. This condition also took her ability to read and write effectively. Some of you have noticed that she has not been as active on facebook or when she is active has her messages or posts/comments may not make sense.
Luckily, Casie has her mind and understands everything that is going on and is able to communicate in a way that is understandable, especially to those who know her. On top of all of this, Casie found out about a month ago that her Cancer is back again and this time it has mutated into her cells which has caused her to have Malignant Pleural Effusion. This is a very serious form of Cancer, but Casie is a fighter and she is determined to beat this as well. A few weeks ago Casie was placed with a drain in her chest to drain the fluid around her lungs to help ease her breathing. This drain requires a lot of care and monitoring. Casie was also approved to receive a ground breaking infusion which is designed to attach to the cancer cells and destroy them while at the same time boosting immunotherapy. This treatment has shown promising results, and her doctors are confident that Casie is a strong candidate to benefit from this regiment.
Casie had her first infusion a few weeks ago and reported feeling better the next day. Earlier this week we learned that the fluid around her lungs is already slowing, which is wonderful! Needless to say all of these treatments and appointments have copays and deductibles.
Currently Casie has several appointments per week, and also travel once a week for her infusions. Because of the stroke, Casie she is no longer able to drive, nor is she able to communicate without family there to help others interpret for her during appointments. Therefore her family, and especially her husband Carlos has had to miss many days of work. We would like Casie and Carlos to be able to focus on her treatments and spending time as a family, rather than stressing about finances. If you would prefer donating using Venmo (Carlos Siggers @SiggyWorld) or Paypal (@SiggyWorld).
Most of all we are asking for your prayers. Anyone who knows Casie understands that she believes in the power of prayer and we would like to ask you all to add her to your prayer lists. If you would like to send Casie a card her address is
