Help Cash Overcome His Medical Challenge

Donation protected
Hi my name is Sheryl and this is a story about my first born grandchild.

This is my 25 yr old grandson, Cash Shoemaker. Cash is going through a rough medical problem right now. He has a cartilage tumor in his right tibia. The tumor is approximately 5” in length and completely fills his tibia, has actually overgrown his tibia to where it has bowed out the bone. It has taken the place where all the bone marrow that is supposed to be inside the tibia. Until they get into surgery, they will not know if it is a benign or a malignant tumor. However, the pathologist says that it is showing a lot of signs of malignancy.
Cash has always been a very caring and compassionate youngster and now young man. Always there to help someone out. He finally got a great job and a great girlfriend and everything going his way until this came up. When he was 11 days old, we just about lost him to a stomach disease and he had to have emergency surgery to fix that problem, which still to this day creates issues for him. As an adolescent, we found out that his eyes had problems, like 22 different issues which could cause him blindness as he ages. He has been through a lot in his short 25 years. But he always kept going and moving forward. Some days are harder than others. He would still help another person or animal that needed something.
Well, now he needs some help, with the upcoming surgery he will not be able to bear any weight on his right leg for several weeks / months. (Depending on how invasive the surgery will need to be to get rid of all remnants of the tumor that has grown inside his tibia.) Which in turn means that no work for the same amount of time or longer. His company that he works for will hold his position for him, they do not have any disability insurance and if he cannot work his hours needed for his health insurance then he will need to pay a cobra premium out of his pocket (with no work). But he will need this cobra insurance to complete this possibly lifesaving matter.
I am personally asking for your help!!!! If all my family and friends that I have on Facebook just donate $5 -$10 to this cause for my grandson, then he will be able to survive with his household bills and his cobra insurance until he can finally get back to work.
But anything, even $1.00 helps and builds the bank.
If you cannot donate, please share this post with your friends and families!!

The funds will be used to pay any medical that his insurance will not cover, it will also help him keep up on his household bills and obligations.
I thank y’all in advance.❤️

UPDATE:

Doctor's appt update from Thursday, June 27, 2024
The Dr sent the tumor off to a large third party pathologist. So no pathology report yet. He didn't like the look of the tumor (the malignant characteristics of it) and wanted it to be sliced and diced for several other test than what a smaller pathologist would do. He is also not pleased with the way the tibia and incision is healing.
Dr. wants him off his leg still with NO pressure for an additional several weeks from the 4-6 weeks originally thought. And possibly more surgery. Which of course means even longer without work which makes the money to pay his living expenses.
I am doing everything that I know what to do to help him, but I need friends and families help, please.
I'm so worried about Cash and I don't ask for much help from anyone ever . I've become too dang independent but...Please $5 is equivalent to a cup of coffee. I hate to seem like I'm begging but at this point I guess that I am.
Please help if you can but if you can't, please share my post. Thank you to those few that have donated, it really has helped.
Thank you ❤️

Latest update: July 25, 2024

Surgery #4 tomorrow in the last two months. Very bad infections in and out of the tibia. They will open his leg back up and remove all the medical cement that they put inside the tibia to take the place of the bone marrow that the tumor ate up. And leave everything open. He will be hospitalized with IV antibiotics drips. And staff watching him closely.
Hopefully with the Department of infectious diseases now involved, they will get this all clear up. This has moved him backwards to the date of the tumor removal surgery.
He still needs all the prayers and donations that you can do. I am so worried about him, we all could use prayers about now.
If ya can't donate, and we do understand please, please share my GoFundMe post to the public view.
All our love and big thank you ❤️.

Update: August 13, 2024
Well, here I am again today reposting this GoFundMe page regarding my Oldest Grandson, Cash Shoemaker. Also, today is his 26th Birthday. Cash has been going through all of these surgeries due to a tumor in his tibia. First, removal of the tumor inside the tibia and then an infection caused most likely from the medical cement they used to put the tibia back together. Four surgeries since June. He is still under no weight bearing orders since early June. Looks like we're still looking at quite a bit of time until he can start to bear any weight on that leg. So I'm asking again for assistance for him to help pay his bills and medical bills. He is a 4th yr electrical apprentice by trade so working is out of the picture for quite a while also. He has another appt in the morning with his oncologist, praying for great news!!
For those that have already donated, a BIG thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
If you can't donate we totally understand, life is hard. But please share this post to the public. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Update: August 25, 2024
The Oncologist removed Cash's boot and examined the tibia and the incision and believes that all of the infection that started from the medical cement that they put inside the tibia when the tumor was removed is cleared up. The tibia still has a opening in it for any excess drainage that might arise. He is still on antibiotics for a few more weeks. He is now allowed to bear 10% of his body weight off and on with that leg. He also had an appt with the Department of Infectious Disease Doctor this last week and she cleared him also from the infection. So good news. He goes back to the oncologist on Sept 5 most likely will do X-rays on his tibia, they will also be watching to see if the tumor will regrow or not. At some point they will be doing more MRIs to make sure there is not any spreading since it was in and ate the bone marrow inside the tibia along with eating part of the inside of the tibia. Still no work or driving for at least other month. Bills and life necessities are still needing to be paid. If ya can help with donations, that would be most appreciated, if ya can't, please say a prayer for continued healing and share this post to the public. Thank y'all in advance ❤️

09/06/24 Oncologist appt update:

Well the Dr appt went fairly well. They took X-rays of his tibia and there is new bone growth. Dr said that there will always be a cavern inside the tibia so it will be weaker then the right rest of it. He can now bear 25% of his weight on it with both crutches, then in 3 weeks he can bear 50% then another 3 weeks he can bear 75% with one crutch then in another 3 weeks 100% of his weight with no crutches. This is as long as the bone holds up as they are hoping.
His results came back from 2 different pathologist in Austin and 1 in Massachusetts and they all agree that is is a "A" typical tumor which means that a portion of it is malignant and another portion is benign. They will continue to treat everything as though the whole tumor was malignant. In 9 weeks they will do an CT and an MRI along with chest X-rays for spreading. The Dr said that this type of malignancy will go to the lungs first.
So he's still out of work at least until Nov 9th..that was the bummer part for him. So he still has at least the 9 weeks without working and trying to keep his finances above water.
If y'all can help with donations, it would be greatly appreciated. Again, if y'all can't please send prayers for continued healing and please share this page as much as y'all can. Thanks y'all
Love y'all ❤️
