Cash’ story
Since I’ve moved to Richmond, I’ve seen so many instances of people needing to “get rid of their dog today” or strays roaming the street and haven’t been able to help myself but to offer to help them. Cash is the first one that stuck.
Cash showed up on a lady’s porch about ten minutes away and wouldn’t leave. At the time, animal control was on lockdown for two weeks due to an outbreak of canine influenza. After three days on the porch, I messaged the lady on the Ring app posting about him and said I would come get the dog.
I had Cash for three days and posted anywhere I could think to try to find his owner (while simultaneously being a little obsessed with him). When his owner called, I couldn’t help but be a little sad but I already have my hands pretty full with a sassy selective Rottie and caring for my moms 100 pound lab.
Two months later, I get a text from his owner that she can no longer keep him and she wanted to find him a home but didn’t trust anyone but me. So… I went and picked him up.
He is ten months old and pure muscle. He is sweet and loving but can definitely get rambunctious and needs to work on his basic manners and obedience. I travel a decent amount and am having to keep him separate from my resident dogs so while I am able to keep him safe and fed, I think he deserves more to give him a real chance at an amazing home! Which is why I want to find a way to cover the cost of his training and make him the most marketable good boy on the block. He deserves it.
I’ve been spreading the word about Cash for several weeks now and trying to use every resource available to me to find him a home where he will be set up for success. Unfortunately, there are just so many adoptable homeless dogs right now that this task is proving harder than expected. In an effort to really make him stand out, I plan to get him into a training program through Alpha Love Dog Training in October to get a crash course on alllll the things “dog” that he didn’t get in his first ten months of life. By doing this and teaching him the basic manners of being a pet, how could anyone resist this face?!
So…
I am collecting donations to cover the cost of Cash’ board and train. One week of training is $755 and he could probably benefit from two weeks… Any funds raised over the cost of training will be donated to Ring Dog Rescue - a local Richmond rescue that specializes in Pit Bull type dogs that has been extremely helpful in guiding me on this mission to find Cash a home.
If we can help Cash realize his potential and find an amazing home, that will open my door to help the next little guy that comes along and needs a helping hand. Thank you for considering donating! Anything helps, even a dollar! And please share!!!
