Help Casey-Jo Get Raven the Vet Help She Deserves
Donation protected
This is Raven - my almost six-year-old rescue pup, originally saved from being used as bait for fighting dogs. She was never meant to survive. She was meant to be discarded. But she did, and she became my heart. A vessel for love. A best friend. My family. In the years we’ve been together, she’s become the most loving, loyal, goofy companion I could ask for.
But now, she’s suffering.
Raven has been navigating severe, complex medical issues for over a year, and we still don’t have answers.
She has a persistent, painful rash in her most intimate area. It's often oozing, bleeding, and crusting over, and no treatment has worked. She’s also developed repeated infections, including a mysterious paw infection last summer. Now she’s limping. She recently began developing sty-like bumps in her eyes. Her skin is inflamed. She is clearly in pain.
We attempted a biopsy of the area under sedation, but once she was under, the vet deemed it too risky to proceed. Meanwhile, her condition keeps getting worse.
We’ve tried everything:
-Dozens of vet visits - including two $1,000+ visits this year alone (one of them on the same day I was fired from my job)
-Endless food changes and trials (including prescription and homemade)
-Multiple sedations and failed procedures
-Antibiotics on and off for almost two years straight
-Four ongoing medications - one of which costs $500/month
She rarely leaves the house anymore. I’ve kept her inside to try to manage her symptoms, but they’re worsening. Every time I think we’ve turned a corner, something else happens.
Her regular vet has reached their limit and now recommends a specialized veterinary dermatologist. The problem? These specialists are in high demand, extremely expensive, and require a deposit just to get on the waitlist. I’ve also considered trying to get her help in the U.S., but that’s even more costly and without guarantees.
I’m tapped out.
I moved across the country for a job that let me go earlier this year. I used my savings for that move, and the rest went to Raven’s care. I’m also facing my own serious health challenges and currently have no stable income. I’ve been told to re-home her, but that was never an option. She’s my family. She saved me, more than once.
We’ve struggled every step of the way for the past 18 months since we moved here, and now we’re at a breaking point.
So I’m asking for help.
Not a lot from a few — but a little from many.
If you’ve ever loved an animal, if you’ve ever felt helpless watching someone you love suffer, please consider donating. If you've ever been met with silence from a system that's supposed to help, you know how disorienting and defeating it can be.
Every single dollar will go directly toward getting Raven seen by a specialist and, hopefully, on a path to healing, so she can return to the joyful, mischievous dog she deserves to be.
She’s not even six yet. She still has so much life to live.
She just needs a chance at answers and I need help to get her there.
Thank you for reading, for caring, for helping. Your time, your donations, your shares - it means more than you know.
With all our hearts,
Casey-Jo & Raven
