Hi, my name is Corey and I’m fundraising to help my parents pay for my brother’s medical care and the costs associated.

On January 28th, 2022 Casey fell from the top of Rainbow Bridge in Baxter Springs, KS and landed on the pavement. Thankfully there was a witness to this fall and they were able to call 911. When ambulances arrived, he was unresponsive and had to be life flighted to Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO where he has spent the last 4 weeks. He has a severe brain injury that has required multiple surgeries and the journey has been a roller coaster for all involved, but it’s still not over.

Due to the injury, Casey cannot do many of the things he was able to before and has recently started speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy at the hospital. He is having to re-learn how to talk, work his muscles, move his arms and legs, sit up, stand and everything in between. Soon he will be going to another facility for care so that he can continue working on these things with a long term goal of becoming as independent as possible. The current plan is for him to go to Craig Neurorehabilitation and Research Hospital in Englewood, CO.

While insurance will cover an amount of the associated costs, the total financial impact to our parents is unknown. On top of the medical bills there will be travel and living expenses for our parents as well as time off work for both of them while they learn how to properly care for my brother.
