Last night, my best friend Casey Lum and his family experienced a devastating house fire that destroyed nearly every bedroom and the entire second floor of their home. In a matter of hours, they lost not only their home but also countless personal belongings and cherished memories. The shock and heartbreak are overwhelming, and the road to recovery will be long and difficult.

Casey and his family have faced more than their share of hardship over the years. When Casey was a child, his brother Tyler, who had special needs, passed away unexpectedly, leaving a deep wound in the family. In 2021, tragedy struck again when Casey’s father, Jon Lum, died from respiratory issues caused by Covid. Jon was a devoted father, husband, and the family’s sole provider. After his passing, Casey stepped up, quitting his job to move back home and support his mother and siblings. Together, they purchased a home in Canyon Lake, CA, and opened Canyon Lake TeeBox, a family-friendly indoor golfing facility. Casey gave golf lessons to people of all ages, while his mother and siblings organized parties and events, working together as a team. The TeeBox inspired Casey to pursue his dream of becoming a professional golfer, and he began working through the PGA program, dedicating his free time to advancing through each level.

Now, with their home destroyed, the Lum family is facing yet another major setback. Because they have poured so much into their business and their dreams, they do not have the resources to rebuild on their own. The funds raised through this GoFundMe will help provide immediate housing, replace essentials, and give them the time and support they need to find a new permanent residence.
