A few months ago, my little sister Casey and her fiancé Dave set out on the road trip of a lifetime: across the country from CT to CA, led by their open hearts, love for music and healing, and a final goal of moving back to Hawaii to start the next chapter of their lives. 

 While on the road, and just a few days after getting engaged at the Grand Canyon, their world changed in an instant.

 While passing through Las Vegas, Dave suffered a traumatic brain bleed that required emergency craniotomy surgery to relieve pressure on his brain. He is currently out of surgery and in a somewhat stable condition. The days ahead will be filled with uncertainty, intensive medical care, and the long road of recovery.

 Casey is by his side, but they are completely alone in Las Vegas, thousands of miles from friends or family, and using what they have left of their savings to continue their journey. What was supposed to be the start of their new life together has turned into an awful situation.

 Casey and Dave had put everything they had into this journey: leaving behind security, comfort, and familiarity to chase their dream together. They were enjoying a beautiful adventure, and now they’re facing something no one could have prepared for. While Dave’s insurance covers a small portion of medical bills there are so many other factors:

 • Emergency medical costs and post-surgery care • Temporary housing, food, and transportation while stuck in Las Vegas • Future rehabilitation and recovery expenses • Emotional support and relief for Casey as she navigates this terrifying experience far from comfort.
