Cas gained her wings at 10:30am on January 17, 2026. Her condition had started reaching a critical state, so to have one last act of kindness, we laid her to eternal rest. I am keeping her fundraiser open in her honor, to help with funeral expenses and to donate more to research in helping to fight and cure Hemangiosarcoma. Thank you to everyone so much, we are devastated and I’ll miss my girl forever.
Cas, my sweet 7-year-old German Shepherd, has been living with an aggressive metastatic cancer since her sudden diagnosis right before Christmas 2025, diagnosed on 12/23/25. I am doing everything in my power to provide for her; unfortunately, insurance is not an option. This GoFundMe exists because the costs for her care are ever climbing, but there is nothing I wouldn't do to advocate for her where her voice cannot be heard.
On December 16th, 2025, I took my 7-year-old German Shepherd, Cas, to our local vet after she stopped eating breakfast and showed signs of lethargy in the morning only. Although her initial tests came back normal, her bloodwork revealed a high white blood cell count and slight fever. The vet started her on antibiotics and anti-inflammatories for acute arthritis found in her spine via X-rays. We thought we were out of the woods, on the road to recovery, but Cas didn’t respond to the medication. A week later, we brought her back to our local vet, who performed a quick ultrasound, and further testing revealed a mass on her spleen. Unfortunately, they were not equipped to do a more in-depth scan that day, and I had to rush her to an ER clinic over an hour away. The hope was to operate on Friday, 12/26/25, but once we arrived and sat for two hours in the ER, a full abdominal ultrasound revealed the mass had spread to her liver and kidney. The news was devastating, and the best advice they could give me was to keep her comfortable on Tylenol, and she had a month at best.
We did not accept that answer. Giving up is not in our vocabulary. She is a fighter, so we will fight for her and be her voice.
We immediately researched high and low, reading stories and experiences of others—finding studies, holistic methods, and more. Our kitchen is currently an array of herbal remedies, lean proteins, Turkey Tail mushroom, CBD, and so on. Anything to starve the bad cells and promote her immunity.
On January 2nd, my loving partner took Cas back to her local vet to start some form of treatment, while we wait for our Oncologist appointment on January 13th, as we felt like we were moving in slow motion and racing against time. Her vet performed a needle aspiration of her lymph nodes, and we’re still waiting on lab results to determine what type of cancer we’re fighting.
We want to be absolutely sure that we have exhausted all of our options, so we are on several cancellation lists for Oncologists across several states. Since the initial diagnosis, our focus has been on providing Cas with supportive care, keeping her comfortable and happy. Helping her feel as good as we can for as long as we get to continue to love her. She is watched around the clock and checked on routinely throughout the night, sleeping close by.
She is truly my soulmate, and our bond is unbreakable. Giving up is not in our vocabulary. Despite everything, Cas is still happy and full of life, and we are determined to fight for her and bring awareness to Canine Cancer.
I have already spent a significant amount on vet bills and missed work to be there for her and provide the care she needs. The costs will only climb, so any help towards her bills is a step forward. I also hope to contribute to research and awareness, as canine cancer affects so many families and has so little information.
Above all, Cas’s quality of life is my top priority, and right now, she is living her best life, though ours has changed drastically.
Any support for Cas’s care and our journey fighting cancer means the world to us. Even sharing this is a huge help, interacting with our posts, and just sharing the love that we have for Cas.
As of 1/2/26, she is on prednisone until her first Oncology appointment on 1/13/26.
Regular updates will be posted here and on socials. Thank you <3
With love,
Cas & Faith
