Hi everyone,
My name is Lara, and I’m creating this fundraiser for my sister, Caryn — one of the strongest and most dedicated people I know. She’s a healthcare practitioner who’s devoted her life to helping others heal and move without pain, but now she’s facing something she can’t fix on her own.
A little over two years ago, Caryn’s health began to decline with strange, unexplained symptoms. After months of searching, an MRI revealed a large cervical disc herniation at C5-6 pressing on her spinal cord. Through relentless effort and self-treatment, she achieved what most would consider impossible — her body naturally resorbed over 80% of that disc. Yet she learned the herniation wasn’t the cause, but a result of something deeper.
Further imaging and investigation revealed cranio-cervical instability (CCI) — a condition where the ligaments connecting the skull and spine are damaged and lax. It’s a complex, often genetic and environmental disorder with no true cure or reliable surgical fix. This instability causes daily pain, limited movement, and neurological symptoms that affect every part of her life.
After exhausting every conservative option, Caryn has found real hope in a regenerative stem-cell procedure called the ePICL, performed only at the Centeno-Schultz Clinic in Colorado. This highly specialized treatment uses a patient’s own stem cells to stabilize and heal the ligaments at the base of the skull — offering a chance at true recovery.
The treatment cost alone is $17,000, in addition to travel, accommodations, and recovery-related expenses. This adds up to far more than Caryn and her husband, Dan, can manage on their own — especially since she hasn't been able to work full time in their business and they will both need to take time off for the procedure and her recovery.
Caryn has fought tirelessly for her health and for others’. Now, she needs our help to take this final step toward healing and getting back to the work and life she loves.
Caryn would never ask for help herself — she’s far more comfortable being the one supporting others. But she truly needs this, and she’s done everything within her power to get to this point.
Please consider a donation, no matter the amount. Every dollar will go directly toward her procedure, travel, and recovery. Even sharing this page helps more than you know.
With gratitude,
Lara
