Meet Carter, a sweet and gentle rescue pitbull who has already survived more than most dogs ever should.

Twenty months ago, Carter was found on the streets, stabbed and fighting for his life — alone, in pain, and without anyone to care for him. That changed in December 2023 when he was rescued by people who saw his light despite his scars. Since then, Carter has undergone two major surgeries, a procedure, multiple drain placements and removals, and countless rounds of antibiotics. Through it all, he has never stopped wagging his tail or giving the softest kisses to those who help him.

But now, Carter faces yet another hurdle — one that could finally set him on the path to true healing.

After being referred to a specialist, a CT scan revealed that Carter's internal infection has spread to his abdomen, affecting his bowel. Even more concerning, a foreign body fragment has made its way inside, and there is suspicious tissue near his sacral bone — all requiring urgent attention.

The specialist has recommended exploratory surgery to:

Remove the dangerous foreign body

Clean and treat the infected areas

Scrape and assess the sacral bone

This surgery is critical, and it may finally give Carter the relief and peace he so deeply deserves. But it comes with a heavy cost: an estimated $6,000 to $8,000+ — and we can’t do it alone.
