Help Carter Replace His Totaled Truck
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Nicole and I am trying to raise funds for my 18-year old son, Carter, to replace his pickup truck totaled in a car accident last Sunday. The driver of the other pickup was in my son's lane coming out of a curve. They both swerved in the same direction and met in the middle. Thank God, there were only minor injuries.
Right now the insurance companies are fighting over responsibility. We received word today that the truck is totaled based on its age, the high mileage and severity of the damage. After our deductible, he will only be receiving less than $4,000 to replace the truck.
My son just graduated from high school two weeks ago and is planning to go to our local community college in August to study welding. He works along side my husband on our family farm tending animals and working farmers markets. A truck is not a luxury for him...it is a necessity.
As farmers, we "make do". We rebuild, we duct-tape, we recycle and we use hand-me-downs. His truck was already 10 years old when we it purchased used in 2020 and had over 230,000 miles when he was hit...it had a few dents and dings but it was mechanically sound and could pull a trailer.
We would not normally ask, but this was a totally unexpected expense that has put us in a bind....We are hoping to find a used Heavy-Duty Pickup with less than 150,000 miles and a gasoline engine for under $15,000....
We appreciate prayers, positive thoughts, donations of any size or support at our farmers market....
Thank you,
Nicole, Brian, Carter and Daniel
