In November, our family’s world changed forever when Carter suffered a sudden, unexplained stroke. The months that followed were filled with hospitals, uncertainty, and prayers — until we finally received a diagnosis that most doctors have never even heard of.

Carter has ROHHAD — a condition so rare, fewer than 100 cases are known worldwide.

What Is ROHHAD?

ROHHAD stands for:

Rapid-Onset Obesity with

Hypothalamic Dysfunction,

Hypoventilation, and

Autonomic

Dysregulation

This complex and life-threatening condition affects Carter’s brain functions that control breathing, metabolism, temperature, and more. It has no cure — and managing it requires specialized, ongoing, and often far distance care.
