Help Carry Overcome Cancer with Your Support

As many of you know, Carry Gassett, the strongest fighter we know, had a received PET scan with results that came back and she met with her Stanford doctor Monday morning to review them with him. I’m so sad to share that the results show she has had no improvement and her cancer has grown significantly and is widespread throughout her body and is in a large amount of her lymph nodes located in her diaphragm, clavicle, peritenum, upper abdomen, rectal area, lungs, along with other areas. Her cancer has also now metastasized into her lungs. The doctor shared with her that her cancer has become platinum resistant so many of the common chemo meds will no longer work for her. His recommendation is to put her on immunotherapy infusions.

As you can imagine I was heartbroken, along with the rest of my family to hear this news. I know now more than ever that God has called me to get treatment at the Cancer Center for Healing in Irvine. I just can’t “wait and see” what may work for me any longer. The Cancer Center ran a test on me called “DATAR” and it was sent to Greece for analysis and it analyzed my cancer cells and tested chemo meds on my cells to see what chemo drug will be most effective against my specific cancer. That test along with many others have been ran since my initial stay there three weeks ago and I met this morning to review everything with the doctor there and she has created a plan for me. NOW I HAVE SO MUCH HOPE!! I will be commuting there for a minimum of 3 months for treatment. As hard as this going to be I feel that it’s where God has led me and I just know in my heart that I will be healed there. It’s extremely expensive to do this because nothing is covered by insurance, but I just can’t give up! I want to live more than anything!!

It is going to cost approximately $70,000 to do this and I am terrified to commit to spending that. It’ll be approximately $5,000 a week for 12 weeks, which is $60,000. Plus another $10,000 for lodging. Irvine is not a cheap place to stay, that’s for sure.

So many people have reached out and offered to help and I’m so grateful for all of you. It’s been hard to ask for help because you all have been so giving and supportive of me since my diagnosis. However, now more than ever I could use some help. If you are able to help us my family and I would appreciate it so much. My best friend Nicole has started a go fund me for me and my son Chase will be doing a football fundraiser coming up soon.

Please continue to pray for me and my family. This is a huge decision we are making and I’ll be away a lot. More than anything I want to be healed of this cancer. I want to grow old with my husband, watch my kids get married, become a grandma, help my parents and David’s mom as they age and need help!! My list is endless of what I want to live for! I will never stop fighting and appreciate you all so much for being on this journey with me and praying for me and my family.
