Supporting Carrie-Sam, Aaron, and their 5 kids while Carrie Sam fights breast cancer!
Our dear friend Carrie-Sam Tkaczuk is wife to Aaron and a mother to 4 amazing boys - Nicholas (15), Sawyer (8), Landon (6) and Lincoln (3). On December 1, 2020, at 25 weeks pregnant (with baby #5), Carrie-Sam was diagnosed with multicentric Grade 3 Invasive Lobular Carcinoma, Stage 2 - which is a VERY sneaky and aggressive breast cancer. On December 18, 2020, she had a unilateral mastectomy and sentinel node biopsy removing 11 lymph nodes (which were free of cancer) and 12 tumours totalling 15.3cm of cancer.

The current plan is that Carrie-Sam will have a medical induction very soon, at around 36 weeks pregnant. She will then have a CT scan to ensure the cancer has not spread and will start at least 4 rounds of chemotherapy on February 26, 2021 which will be within days of baby being born.
Aaron is self-employed as a contractor. He is the primary financial provider for their family. We want to rally the community and show this family love in a very practical way by helping to alleviate any pressure Aaron may have about providing financially for his family. Funds raised will allow Aaron the opportunity to be where he is needed most right now - at home with Carrie-Sam and their children as they welcome their baby and she begins treatments to fight cancer.
The cancer Carrie-Sam has been diagnosed with is not good - while it is in a treatable stage, it is still going to be a LONG journey for this family. In addition to her current diagnosis, Carrie-Sam has tested positive for the BRCA2 gene mutation which means that the chance of reoccurrence or different cancers in the future is very high. Even after this round of chemo, there will be more aggressive surgeries and treatments to help give her the best chance for a healthy and cancer free future.
If you don’t know Carrie-Sam personally, she is the most kind, caring and generous friend to so many. So selfless and generous that in the days following her diagnosis, Carrie-Sam was making and delivering meals to several other families in need. Carrie-Sam loves hard, gives selflessly and has huge faith in God. Through the years Carrie-Sam has shown us astounding selflessness and we want to show them what being loved on looks like now when they are in need.
Funds raised will go to cover household expenses and needs, as well as additional costs that will come up during treatments (parking & gas for the many appointments), additional medical costs, prescription costs before benefit coverage kicks in, and other things they need.

Here is how else you can help:
Share - would you be so kind as to share their story, share this message - share this page - share a bit about this family’s story and you can follow the page for updates on the family, baby, and of course how Carrie Sam is doing through treatments.
Simply pray and think of them - pray for peace over their home, pray for their kids, pray for health, pray for a healthy delivery, pray for joy in the midst of a stressful and tiring season, pray for success in treatments.
Thank you for showing this amazing family the love they need through either your financial support and/or sharing their story. We will be sure to post updates as regularly as possible.
