Hi My Name is Marty Olson and my wife Carrie was just diagnosed with grade 3 breast cancer. We were very fortunate to find it when we did. It is a fast growing cancer and had we not it would definitely have been a not great outlook. She now will undergo chemo for 4-6 months and then have a double mastectomy. Following all of this she will need to begin hormone therapy for 5 years. If her genetic testing comes back showing it in her genes then she would possibly need to have her ovaries that were left when we had the hysterectomy done removed also.
The last 2 years have been very tough on my wife. In the last 2 years she has had 2 hand surgeries, a hysterectomy, a hernia surgery, and now will be having a double mastectomy. The hernia was found when they found the issues with her uterus but the doctor forgot to mention it. So she recovered only to realize her lump was still there. She asked the doctor what it could be and she said she wasn’t sure because they didn’t find anything on the left side which was not true as she noted in the chart that they did Find a hernia. So long story short she almost had it strangulate and they luckily we’re able to get it pushed back in so she didn’t need emergency surgery. However she did need to miss 2 more months of work and have the surgery.
Carrie owns a salon and was shut down for over 5 months due to covid. We did not receive any loans and managed to make it work. However it’s going to be tight very soon. Since Carrie owns her own business and therefore doesn’t have disability we will be out all her income. We are hoping to be able to keep paying her rent at her salon and keep our heads above water until she will be back to work. Best guess is she will be out of work for 2 months. I don’t like having to do a go fund me but I’m hoping some kind people might help out. Anything at all is appreciated. My wife is the hardest working person I have ever met. I want to give her as much peace of mind as possible so she can concentrate on healing and not worry about money or losing clients.
We appreciate anything you can give. Even just words of encouragement are very much appreciated.
