Help Carrie Rebuild After Medical Challenges
Donation protected
Carrie’s journey took a sudden and difficult turn in April 2024 when she fractured her ankle. What seemed like an unfortunate accident soon became the beginning of a series of challenges. The injury was severe enough to require multiple surgeries on her foot—four in total. And as if that weren’t enough, she needed a fifth surgery to have her gallbladder removed.
Her recovery process was long. She spent a significant amount of time in rehab, including two separate stints at Eastlake. During her second stay there, she was put on an antibiotic IV that she had to take three times a day for six weeks. Through all of this, Carrie endured numerous hospital stays and countless medical appointments.
In addition to the physical struggles, her situation grew financially strained. She had used up all of her medical days at her job, and by September, she lost her position. Although she received some money from her employer, it wasn’t enough to cover everything. She exhausted all her savings and investments, including her Roth IRA, just trying to keep up with medical bills and daily expenses.
This is the first month that Carrie has asked for assistance with rent and bills. She’s currently waiting to find out whether she’ll be approved for rental and utility assistance. In the meantime, she’s continuing her outpatient physical therapy, doing everything she can to recover and regain her strength.
Carrie is also actively searching for full-time employment as a mental health therapist, a career she’s passionate about. Despite all the challenges she’s faced, she remains hopeful for the future, determined to rebuild and get back on her feet.
