Help Carrie Get Through This Difficult Time

A few weeks ago, Carrie was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, or MG. MG is a rare autoimmune disease that is characterized by weakness and rapid fatigue of any of the muscles under your voluntary control. It's caused by a breakdown in the normal communication between nerves and muscles.

There's no cure for myasthenia gravis, but treatment can help relieve signs and symptoms, such as weakness of arm or leg muscles, double vision, drooping eyelids, and difficulties with speech, chewing, swallowing and breathing.

Carrie has been immediately scheduled for a surgery to have her thymus gland removed on September 14th. The thymus gland is a part of your immune system situated in the upper chest beneath your breastbone. Once removed, it will be tested for cancer. This will be a major surgery for Carrie. They will need to collapse one of her lungs to be able to get to her thymus. 

In addition to accruing medical costs and travel costs, Carrie will not be able to work for 6-8 weeks. I have created this GoFundMe in the hopes that any donations here and there will help relieve some of this stress that is piling up on her and the rest of our family. 

To know Carrie is to love her. There is no one like Carrie. She is passionate, loving, and a wonderful mother to Hylee and Tosh. She was a dedicated dance teacher to many children and adults for many years. Though she does not teach dance anymore she had a lasting impact on every single child and adult that she taught. She is funny, clever, bright and genuine. Anything she does, she does it with her whole heart.
