We are seeking to raise funds for Carrie Brickett as she begins her fight against breast cancer. Carrie is an incredible mom to her three year old son, Nico. Nico is an adventurous and busy little guy who keeps his mama busy. Carrie has been married to the love of her life, Travis for seven years. Travis has selflessly served our country and is now working in California in securities and traveling back and forth to Dallas to be with his family.
On June 11, 2019, Carrie was diagnosed with Stage 3, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Breast Cancer which is also ER+ (estrogen driven). Carrie is fortunate to have found an excellent team of medical professionals who have taken action swiftly and are working to fight this aggressive form of breast cancer. Carrie's treatment will begin with 16 weeks of chemotherapy. Following chemotherapy, Carrie will then undergo surgery and lastly, radiation.
Carrie is no stranger to parenting Nico while Travis is afar as this has been their normal due to Travis' commitment to our country and now his career in the private sector. However, undergoing intense cancer treatment and caring for her son will truly prove how strong and courageous Carrie is. Unfortunately, Travis will be unable to leave his current position to be by Carrie's side, as having health insurance has never been more important for their family.
With high deductibles and out-of-pockets, Carrie's medical bills are already mounting. Carrie and Travis plan to utilize any funds raised to cover her out-of-pocket medical expenses for a couple years - as her journey could very well take her into three calendar years. Carrie and Travis also hope to purchase airfare tickets for Travis to come home from California on his days off and support Carrie and Nico as Carrie undergoes treatment.
Carrie and Travis conceived Nico in 2015 through IVF. Carrie is fortunate enough to have several embryos available, if and when they are ready to expand their family. Carrie has been told that due to the hormonal nature of her cancer, carrying another child would be extremely high risk in terms of the cancer returning. Any excess of funds raised, would go towards Carrie and Travis' dream of finding a surrogate to expand their family once she wins her battle against breast cancer.
